They’re using a messenger called Adium, probably with a custom theme.http://adium.im/Adium isn’t hard to theme, plus there’s lots of pre-made themes and things you can get for it.

It does matter who made it, Mac’s are better than windoze but mac and windows are nowhere as good as ubuntu/linux…
